Lewis's Mclaren Mercedes by Deansta Lewis's Mclaren Mercedes by Deansta
Heres a re-render of my F1 car i modeled. With some texture changes, an enviroment, higher poly and res with a new lighting setup i think ive brought alot more out of this car from the previous render.

Hope you like it, C&C appreciated ^_^

Nice! You using ambient occlusion? Try increasing the res of that a bit, it'll make it less grainy. Or alternatively do an occlusion pass and blur it, then comp ontop of the beauty pass, to save render time hiking up like crazy

yeh used an occlusion pass and blurred it. the grain is there to make it look more like a photo really. i put the grain on as an overlay as it looked too clean before. i had a bit of trouble with the occlusion, it would give me a smooth transition from white to black, it was very contrasty, but it wasnt too bad. thanks though :)

It looks good now that it is in a scene, but the paint material looks very grainy. The barge boards appear to bit a little to reflective. I would also try adding an area light directly behind the camera to boost the details on the side.

hmm yeh i might give that a go. i turned down the reflection of the car material as it was way to reflective before, but i think i turned it down a little to much, so made it too gray and so the grain shows up alot stronger there. i might try the light too. i took the light setup from the one they used in real life when they unveiled the car so ill look at improoving it maybe. cheers :)

turns out its not harmony or opus... but they are getting a standalone program that does the same stuff ..... and i hadnt heard of it .....

so anyway.... now that its a standalone app instead of the server based brothers. i can easily get a demo of it , already have..... ... dunno when it would expire tho ... might be able to get soemthing from uni.....

i also wanna talk about our animation too ... im stil quibling (that makes no sense) cause you wannit to be awefilled along with the fabulous story. ......

awefilled along with the fabulous story!? does that make sense? :P

yeh we acn talk about it. i think u might be trying to say were trying to cram too much stuff in? which yeh, we might be, so cuts may be in order...the thumbails will let us check that once we got workin on it :)

heh might aswell just say it here, just still not sure about robot arm man .... in my eyes its does nothing for the actual plot and storyline.... it adds little things ... but i dunno, like you said you wanna do it cause it will look impressive for employers... employers understand that if youve made a film this ...swish. there are times where you cant make super mega funky modelled stuff ... just wouldnt fit in.

i think stuff like that goes in a showreel ..... putting it in a film unecessarily is ... silly =P

i duno...i just always saw it being in there from the beginning. and dont see anyway in which it deficits the animation. particularly because i can use it to make very funky animation and it can play well in the script to add tension with it failing and needing to start it again to rescue ur dude. if u dont think it adds alot...then how is it harming it though?

its just from everything else it will seem to be in a modern time setting..... and with no explaination there will be a robotic arm from the future in it.

it might fit in if they were cleaning the side of a space ship.... or something more fitting ..... but all of those things detract from the idea .. of two window cleaners competing.

really i think we should just pitch it to people quite early on and just see what is said.....

i kinda cant make a film with you unless youre willing to just completely scrap things if needs be.

of course it could work , either way i gotta get back to the work at hand.

but you dont need to think ... "i want to have something with really good modelling in our film." because after youve made the film your showreel can have things with phenominal modelling in almost as a contrast .... you said youre doing a project like that this year.

i just find whenever i mention it to people i explain the story and they say it sounds really really cool like the reactions are always great ..... and then if i say we were thinking of giving one of teh characters a robotic window cleaning arm..... they think it sounds stupid or like it wont fit in.

when iv got time ill start drawing up some designs...

Comparing it to your last render you uploaded, it looks LOADS better. I FINALLY like the tyres too ^_^, not too shiny, but not to dull either :)
the front left leg of the stand has a small black outline though...i know its only small, but it jut keeps bugging me everytime i look at it.
Apart from that, I love it and IT DOES LOOK REAL DEAN >_<!
